Wendy Murray Appointed to Board of Directors
Wendy Murray has been appointed to the Community Papers of Florida board of directors. Murray will fill the seat held by Carla Floyd, who retired on July 31, 2008.

Murray is the owner and publisher of Senior Life Magazine located in North Ft. Myers. Senior Life has a distribution of 10,000 and is in every over-55 community in Lee County. The senior demographic is the wealthiest, fastest-growing segment in Lee County and Senior Life Magazine is positioned to grow with the market with 2009 expansion plans.

Murray has a history in the publishing business that dates back to her high school days when she was editor of her high school paper. She was also employed with the now-defunct Hollywood Sun Tattler when she was 16. "It literally is all I have done. I started on the editorial side and moved into advertising after a year," she said.

She was employed with the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group for 11 years and with the Breeze Newspaper Group for 11 years.

Noting that she was delighted to be named to the CPF board, she said, "This association has given me the opportunity to network with other publishers, which has been very important. It's a great assemblage of talent that attends the conference each year. Everyone is always willing to share thoughts and ideas to help you with your goals. The revenue-generating ideas at the conference Idea Fairs have provided me with many great ways to grow revenue over the years, and I routinely take advantage of the consulting services offered. I truly believe we have the best state association in our industry."

Murray earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Troy State University. She is active in community activities and is the past president and on the board of directors of the Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce. She is the co-chair of the American Cancer Society 2008 Relay for Life and is a member of the Lions Club.

Murray enjoys entertaining friends and family with gourmet cooking, and playing golf four times a year, including annually in the CPF tournament.
