It's Conference Registration Time!

It's time to make your reservations for the annual Community Papers of Florida (CPF) conference scheduled for April 30 to May 1 at the Renaissance Airport Hotel in Orlando.

The lineup presented for this conference is a great opportunity for your team to take advantage of some outstanding training programs.

On the agenda are several sessions on the Internet, a roundtable on finding qualified sales reps, an update on CVC audits, and a sales rep forum that will include success stories from reps who excelled during these tough economic times. We've also scheduled two sessions by The Leadership Institute (TLI), "Prospect Your Way to Increased Sales" and "Answering Objections Through the Art of Questioning and Listening."

As we did at last year's conference, we will conduct the "Awards for Excellence" banquet on Friday evening. This is the highlight of the year for many of your team members, so make sure you have your entries in to the CPF office by the March 11 deadline.

We will close the conference Saturday with CPF's famous tradition, the Kentucky Derby Reception. You will have the opportunity to win some cash and prizes.

2009 was another year of falling revenue for the association. The board of directors has cut the conference budget, so you need to take a look at the guideline notes on the registration form in this newsletter.

The number of rooms that CPF will pay for members who participate in the association's classified network has been modified. The number of rooms are based on the circulation of the publications. Check the registration notes; and if you have any questions, give the CPF office a call. Members may send additional team members; however, they will be billed for the cost of all reception functions and will have to pay their own room costs.

Hotel reservations will continue to be made through the CPF office either online, by fax or phone. Those attending will be required to book a room with a credit card. If a room is booked and the person does not attend, the card will be charged for the first night.

We will open the conference with a short business meeting. The nominating committee will present their recommendations for officers and directors to serve for the next two years. Members can make nominations from the floor. If the recommendations are approved, guess what! My term as president is over and I will present the gavel to the incoming president.

For the past two years this association has faced declining revenues. But prior to that, when times were flush, we were able to place funds into investment accounts that will allow us to continue to provide the benefits that our members are accustomed to.

A special thanks to the board of directors and the CPF office for working with me. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as this association's president.
