CPF's 2012 "Awards for Excellence" Competition
By a narrow margin, Forum Publishing Group and Sun Publications led the way in the annual Community Papers of Florida (CPF) "Awards for Excellence" graphic and editorial awards competition.

Each received 18 plaques at the ceremony at the recent conference in Stuart. Forum picked up eight first place awards, while Sun Publications took home five.

Next up was the Observer News in Ruskin with 17 awards, including seven first place honors. The Community News Publications in the Tampa area, Hometown News on the Treasure Coast, and Tower Publications in Gainesville each received 15 awards. Community News had seven first place honors, Hometown News had five, and Tower Publications had four.

Tampa Bay Newspapers took home 14 awards including three first place honors. The Pennysaver Group won 12 awards including three for first place.

Judge's Choice awards went to The Laker (of Community News Publications) for an ad designed for Cameo; to The News Leader (of Sun Publications) for their Recipe Guide special section; to Our Town - High Springs and Alachua (of Tower Publications) for an ad designed for Colleen's Kloset; and to the Observer News for a self-promotion ad.

The Observer News (pictured) also took home Best of Show honors for their dramatic out-of-the-box self-promotion ad.
