2013 Goal: Increase Revenue
The Community Papers of Florida (CPF) will focus on ways to increase revenue in 2013.

The association is dependent on classified network revenue to pay for its functions. Sales for the past few years have been declining and the CPF board of directors has used its rainy day funds to support the member benefits. This includes paying the conference costs (e.g., room costs for members who attend, conference training programs, the annual Awards for Excellence plaques, numerous cash prizes at the conference, and the industry famous Kentucky Derby reception), CVC audits, and the support of PaperChain which promotes the free paper industry.

In addition to the above member benefits, $20,000 in prize money has been approved by the board to be awarded to the reps who sell the network ads; consulting services remain available; and the CPF office maintains both a training lending library and a Website, www.communitypapersofflorida.com, which includes CPF news, links to member publications as well as state, regional and national free paper organizations, photos from past conferences, and a list of member publications with audited circulation figures.

Publishers continue to have an opportunity to haul in some extra revenue by getting involved in selling the network classified ads.

The Caribe Royale Resort, located three miles from Disney World, is the site of the 2013 annual conference. This hotel is a first class resort and you might want to mark your calendar now for the May 3-4 event. Each room is a suite - so there is plenty of room to bring your family.

The conference committee is working on finalizing the agenda. The target is to have a "Sales Boot Camp" during the Saturday session. This session will be geared for all members who attend: managers, sales managers, sales reps and classified personnel.

You can look forward to another year of benefits provided by CPF.
